Senior Electrical Design Engineer United Kingdom Derby, Glasgow, London Application Deadline 27 September 2026
London
Do you want to be part of a rapidly expanding M&E team within Infrastructure?
Do you want to be a part of a growing MEP team? Can you collaborate with colleagues across UK & International projects? Are you experienced in hyperscale data centre design? Then this could be the next adventure in your career.
Data centres are a strategic growth area at COWI. As we scale our presence in this market, we are enhancing our multidisciplinary capabilities and working closely with clients to develop reliable, efficient and sustainable data centre solutions. In this role, you will engage closely with clients, colleagues and partners to develop and deliver data centre projects from early concept through design and implementation.
Thanks to continued expansion we have an opportunity for an Electrical Design Lead to join us. This is a key leadership position, responsible for driving the electrical design strategy and technical delivery of large-scale, mission critical data centre projects from concept through to commissioning.
Working from our new Bishopsgate offices in London (with travel to Scandinavia as required), you’ll liaise closely with multi-disciplinary engineering teams, clients and stakeholders.
The Electrical Lead Engineer will provide technical leadership for the design and delivery of mission critical electrical infrastructure supporting high-density data centre environments, including liquid-cooled and air-cooled IT deployments. The role will be responsible for ensuring the safe, resilient, efficient, and scalable integration of power systems to support evolving rack densities, advanced cooling technologies, and future capacity expansion requirements, while maintaining compliance with project standards, statutory requirements, and client objectives.
The first step to success in this role is that you are eager to collaborate with the people around you, whether they are colleagues, partners, or customers. Developing ties with others is something you do by acting respectfully and delivering on your promises. And you never get set in your ways but keep exploring new insights and ways to improve.
On top of that, you’ll have:
At COWI, we work together with our customers to shape a sustainable and liveable world. We do it by applying our knowledge and curiosity – and sometimes even our courage – to create the solutions the world needs today to enable a better tomorrow. We support our customers’ transition towards increased sustainability. We strive to lead by example by embedding environmental management, social responsibility and good governance into our business practices and the options we provide to our customers. We value differences and development and cultivate an environment of belonging and having fun, because that is what brings out the best in you, at work and at home. With offices primarily located in the Nordic region, the UK, North America and India, we are currently more than 7,500 people who bring their expertise in engineering, architecture, energy and environment into play.
To us, a fair reward is more than a competitive salary. We want to take care of our people professionally and personally as well.
