Join us as a V.I.E Bid Network Planner (M/F)

Transdevis Hiring a Bid Network Planner (VIE) – Manchester, United Kingdom

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and optimise bus schedules on HASTUS for offensive tenders in UK bus franchises, covering timetables, vehicle blocks, and driver duties.
  • Design and apply scheduling rules that comply with working time regulations, collective agreements, and company policies, while minimising Peak Vehicle Requirement without compromising reliability.
  • Analyse run times, punctuality, and operational performance data to challenge assumptions and identify concrete scheduling improvements.
  • Run scenario modelling to test service changes, quantify operational impacts, and feed key metrics and driver establishment figures into the financial workstream.
  • Contribute to the technical writing of tender submissions, documenting scheduling methodology in a clear and persuasive way for the client.
  • Work hand in hand with the finance, operations, and commercial teams to deliver a coherent, winning bid, and go on the ground to understand the network first hand.

Qualifications

Your Profile

  • Graduate from a university, engineering school, or business school, ideally with a specialisation in transport, industrial engineering, operations research, data, or supply chain.
  • First experience (internship, apprenticeship, or 1 year) in transport planning, scheduling, network planning, or bus operations.
  • Working knowledge of HASTUS – or a strong appetite to master it quickly – combined with advanced Microsoft Excel skills and comfort handling large datasets.
  • Sharp analytical mindset, structured problem-solving, and a genuine attention to detail when working with performance metrics and operational constraints.
  • Fluent English, both written and spoken, with the ability to explain complex scheduling concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proactive, autonomous, resilient under pressure, and a real team player who thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Your Destination

Based in Manchester, you will join Transdev UK's Business Development team and report directly to the Bid & Performance Director. Your main role: plan, schedule and optimise bus services across the network to win offensive tenders in UK bus franchises. You will work closely with the bid, commercial, finance and operations teams, and stay connected to the field to understand the network first hand.

This V.I.E assignment is for a duration of 12 months.
