Principal Finance Consultant – D365 Finance & Operations

Our client is a leading Microsoft Partner delivering enterprise-scale digital transformation programmes across the UK. With a strong reputation in Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, they work with complex organisations to modernise finance functions, optimise processes, and drive long-term value.

As a principal finance consultant you will play a critical leadership role within the professional services practice. You will combine deep functional expertise with strategic thinking, leading client engagements end-to-end while mentoring consultants and shaping best practices across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations finance solutions across multiple workstreams
• Act as a trusted advisor to senior client stakeholders (Finance Directors, CFOs, Programme Sponsors)
• Translate complex finance requirements into scalable, best-practice D365 F&O solutions
• Own solution architecture and functional design across core finance modules (GL, AP, AR, FA, Budgeting, Cash & Bank, etc.)
• Support pre-sales activities including solution shaping, estimates, and client presentations

Leadership & Practice Development

• Provide functional leadership across the Finance F&O practice
• Mentor, coach, and develop consultants at varying levels of seniority
• Lead by example on delivery quality, stakeholder management, and professional standards
• Contribute to methodology, accelerators, and IP development
• Support recruitment, onboarding, and capability growth within the practice
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to a high standard
• Identify and manage risks, dependencies, and escalations
• Drive continuous improvement across delivery approaches and client outcomes
• Strong background in finance processes and accounting
• Proven leadership experience within consulting or professional services environments
• Experience leading client engagements and managing senior stakeholders
• Ability to mentor and develop consulting teams
• Strong communication, facilitation, and presentation skills
