£50,000–£70,000
At CoMind, we are developing a non-invasive neuromonitoring technology that will result in a new era of clinical brain monitoring. In joining us, you will be helping to create cutting-edge technologies that will improve how we diagnose and treat brain disorders, ultimately improving and saving the lives of patients across the world. The Role: As an Optical Research Scientist at CoMind, you will join a highly talented and interdisciplinary team working at the interface of optics, engineering, neuroscience and clinical neuromonitoring. This role is ideal for an experimentalist early in their career who is eager to contribute to the development of cutting-edge medical devices. At CoMind, all team members work at least 4 days per week from our new Kings Cross offices, plus a flexible work-from-home day. Responsibilities:
Laboratory and in-vivo testing and implementation of new optical neuromonitoring systems and methods
Supporting the development of new optical and electronic systems
Supporting the development of new experimental methodologies to validate and optimise the performance of our medical devices
Collaborating with cross-functional teams to inform and support design decisions
Performing in-vivo optical measurements on healthy volunteers, and experiments using tissue-mimicking phantoms
Processing and analyzing the resultant optical data to extract key signals and parameters.
Summarizing findings, compiling reports, and presenting results to the wider research, product, and leadership teams
AI is fundamental to our culture — it's not just a tool, but a core part of how we work, collaborate, and innovate. We expect all team members to embrace AI in their daily work and continuously find new ways to use it effectively.
Skills & Experience:
Background in physics, medical physics, biomedical engineering or related discipline
Significant experience undertaking laboratory testing and development of physiological measurement systems, including experimental design, device application, data acquisition and analysis
Hands-on experience with in-vivo physiological signal acquisition using experimental/prototype technologies
Fluency in at least one programming language used for data collection and analysis (e.g. Python, MATLAB, or LabVIEW)
Experience working in an interdisciplinary team
Outstanding communication skills, including in scientific writing and report generation.
