KS1 Class Teacher (Maternity Cover)

North London | January 2027 Start | 12-Month Fixed-Term Contract

An exceptional independent preparatory school is seeking an enthusiastic and talented KS1 Class Teacher to join its dedicated team from January 2027 on a 12-month maternity cover contract.

The Role

The successful applicant will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching across Key Stage 1, ensuring that every child is supported, challenged and encouraged to achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging lessons that meet the needs of all learners.
• Create a positive, stimulating and inclusive classroom environment.
• Assess, monitor and track pupil progress effectively.
• Maintain high standards of behaviour and classroom management.
• Provide constructive feedback to pupils and parents.
• Support pupils with additional learning needs where appropriate.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, teaching assistants and support staff.
• Contribute to extracurricular activities, school events and the wider life of the school.

Person Specification

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
• Experience teaching within Key Stage 1.
• Excellent classroom practice and strong curriculum knowledge.
• High expectations of pupil achievement and behaviour.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.
• Commitment to professional development and continuous improvement.
• Enthusiastic, adaptable and keen to contribute beyond the classroom.
