Special Needs Teaching Assistant – SEMH

Location: Surrey
Start Date: Immediate Start
Contract: Full-time, Long-term
Salary: £90 – £125 per day, depending on experience

TeacherActive is proud to be recruiting for a Special Needs Teaching Assistant / SEND TA to work within a specialist SEMH school based in Surrey .

The school supports pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs , many of whom may also have additional needs such as Autism, ADHD, anxiety, trauma-related needs and challenging behaviour .

As a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and other professionals to provide 1:1 and small-group support , helping pupils to engage with their learning, regulate their emotions and develop positive relationships within the school environment.

The successful Special Needs Teaching Assistant will ideally have:

• Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEMH and/or SEND
• Experience managing challenging behaviour and using positive behaviour strategies
• A calm, patient and resilient approach
• The ability to build strong and appropriate relationships with pupils
• Experience providing 1:1 and small-group interventions
• A good understanding of safeguarding and the needs of vulnerable young people
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
