Special Needs Maths Teacher – SEMH

Location: Surrey

Contract: Full-time, Long-term
Salary: £180 – £250 per day, depending on experience

TeacherActive is proud to be recruiting for a Special Needs Maths Teacher to join a specialist SEMH school based in Surrey .

The school supports young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs , with pupils potentially presenting additional needs including Autism, ADHD, anxiety, trauma and challenging behaviour .

As the Maths Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and accessible Maths lessons , adapting the curriculum to meet a range of individual needs and abilities. You will work closely with teaching assistants, pastoral staff and other professionals to create a structured, supportive and positive learning environment.

The successful Maths Teacher will ideally have:

• QTS / QTLS or a relevant recognised teaching qualification
• Strong knowledge and experience of teaching Maths
• Experience working within SEND, SEMH, Alternative Provision or PRU settings is highly desirable
• Strong behaviour and classroom management skills
• The ability to differentiate lessons for pupils working at different academic levels
• A calm, patient and resilient approach
• The ability to build positive relationships with pupils who may have experienced barriers to education
• A strong understanding of safeguarding and SEND
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
