Are you an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor with a strong background working for a main contractor? Do you have solid JCT contract experience and the commercial expertise to take ownership of projects from pre-construction through to final account?

Our client is an established construction contractor delivering a range of high-value projects and is looking to strengthen its commercial team with an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor.

The Role

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take commercial responsibility for your projects, working closely with the Project Manager, commercial team, subcontractors, suppliers and client representatives.

This is a hands-on position suited to a Senior Quantity Surveyor who is confident managing contracts, negotiating with stakeholders and making commercially sound decisions, with the view to head up the commercial team in the years to come.

Key Responsibilities

Take commercial ownership of allocated projects from pre-construction through to completion and final account.
Manage project budgets, forecasts, cost reporting and financial performance.
Administer contracts in accordance with agreed terms, with particular emphasis on JCT forms of contract.
Prepare, review and manage applications for payment, valuations, variations and change.
Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
Manage the procurement and commercial administration of subcontract packages.
Review subcontractor applications, valuations, variations and final accounts.
Manage contractual notices, extensions of time and other relevant commercial matters.
Monitor project costs against budgets and provide accurate financial forecasts.
Support the preparation and agreement of final accounts.
Assist with the resolution of commercial and contractual disputes where required.
Contribute to improving commercial processes and maintaining strong commercial controls across projects.

About You

The successful candidate will be an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor with a proven track record within a main contractor environment.

You will have strong commercial awareness, excellent contract knowledge and the confidence to manage your own workload while working closely with operational and senior management teams.

Desirable

Experience working across complex or high-value construction projects.
Experience managing multiple subcontract packages.
Degree/HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline.
