Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Tutor to support learners on a specialist educational programme in the Taunton area .

This is a highly rewarding role working with young people who may have faced barriers to education and require additional support to re-engage with learning. Due to the nature of the provision, we are looking for someone who can commit to a long-term block booking , with the opportunity to secure a permanent position should the placement be successful.

About the Role

As a Pre-SIP Tutor, you will manage a small caseload of learners, delivering tailored educational support on a one-to-one basis or in very small groups of up to three learners .

You will be responsible for building positive relationships, developing personalised learning plans, and helping learners make progress academically, socially and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging, personalised lessons to learners on a 1:1 basis or in small groups
• Support learners with a range of complex and vulnerable backgrounds
• Deliver Functional Skills English and Maths where appropriate
• Adapt teaching approaches to meet individual needs and learning styles
• Monitor learner progress and maintain accurate records
• Build positive, trusting relationships that encourage engagement and achievement
• Work collaboratively with other professionals to support learner outcomes

The Ideal Candidate

• Holds a recognised teaching or training qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS, Level 3 Award in Education and Training or equivalent)
• Has GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English and Maths (or equivalent)
• Has experience teaching or supporting young people with SEND, SEMH, EHCPs or other additional needs
• Is confident delivering personalised learning programmes
• Has excellent communication and behaviour management skills
• Is patient, resilient and able to build strong professional relationships
• Holds an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or is willing to obtain one
