• EBSA (Emotionally Based School Avoidance)
• School refusal, anxiety and disengagement
• Interrupted education and gaps in learning
• Complex needs requiring a personalised approach

Key Responsibilities

You will deliver face-to-face 1:1 provision, primarily in CYP's homes or suitable community settings, supporting individual learning and re-engagement.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Delivering personalised learning across English, Maths, Science and other appropriate subjects.
• Building trusting relationships and establishing positive, consistent routines.
• Adapting teaching and activities to individual abilities, interests and learning styles.
• Using trauma-informed, relationship-led and positive behaviour strategies.
• Supporting emotional regulation, confidence, independence and engagement.
• Observing progress and contributing to baseline assessments, individual learning plans and regular progress reports.
• Recording attendance through our attendance system and communicating any concerns promptly.
• Working collaboratively with families, the AP Education team and relevant professionals to support positive outcomes.
• Supporting transitions towards further education, specialist provision or mainstream education where appropriate.

Candidate Profile

We welcome applications from:

• Qualified teachers, tutors, HLTAs and experienced SEND practitioners.
• Professionals with experience in alternative provision, outreach education or home tuition.
• Youth workers, mentors and practitioners with relevant experience supporting CYP with SEND or SEMH.
• Candidates with strong relationship-building skills and experience engaging CYP who may be reluctant to participate in formal learning.

QTS or relevant teaching qualifications are desirable. Applicants without formal teaching qualifications may be considered where they have substantial relevant UK experience.

You will be adaptable, reliable, compassionate and confident working independently while maintaining clear communication with the wider team.

Why AP Education?

• Guaranteed weekly pay in line with agreed placement and payment terms.
• Access to flexible curriculum platforms and personalised learning resources.
• A comprehensive baseline toolkit, including downloadable resources and training videos.
• Training led by our Head of Education and ongoing CPD opportunities.
• Access to training in trauma-informed practice and supporting CYP with complex needs.
• A dedicated Education Coordinator to support you throughout your placement.
• Opportunities to be considered for further placements as suitable referrals become available.
• The opportunity to make a direct difference through individualised, relationship-led education.
