Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant who can bring energy, consistency and confidence to the classroom? Do you know how to build positive relationships with pupils while maintaining clear boundaries and high expectations?

Academics are recruiting a Year 5 SEN Teaching Assistant in Waltham Forest for a full-time, permanent position starting ASAP. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced TA who enjoys working closely with individual pupils and wants to make a lasting difference as they prepare for the transition into secondary education.

You'll be supporting a pupil in Upper Key Stage 2 on a primarily 1:1 basis. The pupil is lively and can present behavioural challenges, so we're looking for someone who can remain calm under pressure, respond consistently and strike the right balance between being supportive and firm.

What will the role involve?

• Providing dedicated 1:1 support to a Year 5 pupil with additional needs
• Helping the pupil engage with lessons, activities and classroom routines
• Setting clear expectations and reinforcing positive behaviour
• Supporting emotional regulation and encouraging appropriate responses to challenging situations
• Adapting activities and approaches to suit the pupil's individual needs
• Building a trusting relationship while maintaining professional boundaries
• Working closely with the class teacher and wider school team
• Encouraging greater independence, confidence and responsibility
• Helping the pupil participate positively in school life

Who would suit this role?

Previous experience supporting children with SEN is essential. Experience managing challenging behaviour would be particularly beneficial.

You'll need to be:

• Firm, fair and consistent in your approach
• Patient, resilient and confident when faced with challenging situations
• Skilled at building relationships without compromising boundaries
• Proactive and able to adapt your approach when needed
• Committed to helping pupils make progress both academically and socially

Why consider this opportunity?

The school offers a welcoming primary environment with an emphasis on positive relationships, pupil development and collaborative working. You'll have the opportunity to become a consistent and valued part of a pupil's educational journey.

The position is full-time and permanent, offering stability for an experienced SEN professional who wants to build their career within one setting. The Waltham Forest location also benefits from nearby parking options and strong public transport links, making the daily commute more manageable.

If you're an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant who thrives on building relationships, providing structure and helping pupils overcome barriers to learning, we'd love to hear from you.

Salary will be determined by the successful candidate's qualifications and relevant experience, and will be in accordance with the client's pay policy. </p
