Finance Assistant

We are looking for a Finance Assistant for a contract position based with our client in Colwich.

Immediate start available (subject to interview process)

Rate of pay is 14.00 per hour (depending on experience)

The Temporary Finance Assistant who will provide short-term support to the Finance Manager and wider finance team, helping to maintain the smooth running of day-to-day financial operations during the temporary assignment. The role focuses on bank reconciliations, financial reporting, finance administration and accurate record keeping, ensuring work is completed promptly and in accordance with company procedures and relevant requirements.

General Finance Support:

• Assist with daily and monthly bank reconciliations, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately and discrepancies are resolved.
• Support the preparation of month-end and year-end financial information, including reports for internal stakeholders.
• Assist in preparing accruals, prepayments, journals, and other financial adjustments.
• Monitor company cash flow and assist with producing cash flow reports as required.
• Support internal and external audit activities by providing documentation and clarifications.
• Ensure compliance with company financial procedures and relevant regulatory requirements.
• Maintain confidentiality, security, and accuracy of financial information at all times.

Financial Administration and Process Improvement:

• Maintain accurate, organised and up-to-date financial records.
• Provide practical administrative support to accounts payable and general finance activities to help manage workload and deadlines.
• Assist with existing finance processes and any short-term process improvements as directed.
• Work with the Finance Team, Procurement and other departments to resolve queries and maintain accurate financial information.
• Undertake other reasonable finance administration tasks appropriate to the temporary assignment.

Skills & Experience:

• Previous experience in finance assistant, accounts, or administrative finance role.
• Knowledge of VAT regulations and general financial compliance is beneficial.
• Strong numerical skills with high accuracy and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial systems.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for internal collaboration.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and work independently when needed.
• High level of integrity and professionalism in handling confidential information.
• Good problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to finance queries.

AAT qualification (or working towards) or equivalent financial certification is desirable but not essential.
