• Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour using appropriate de-escalation and behaviour-management strategies.
• Create a calm, structured and nurturing environment where pupils feel safe, supported and ready to learn.
• Adapt your communication and support depending on pupils' age, individual needs and stage of development.
• Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, pastoral staff and external professionals to provide consistent support.
• Encourage pupils to develop resilience, confidence, independence and positive social and emotional skills.

Person Specification:

• Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, SEND, behavioural needs or other additional needs.
• Comfortable supporting pupils across a range of ages and abilities, from primary through to secondary.
• Calm, patient and resilient, with the ability to respond positively and consistently to challenging situations.
• Energetic and able to support active pupils throughout the school day.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to establish trust and clear boundaries.
• Confident working as part of a wider team to support pupils' academic, social and emotional development.
• A genuine commitment to helping children and young people overcome barriers and achieve positive outcomes.

• Long-term opportunities offering consistency and stability.
• Flexible day-to-day cover opportunities available for candidates looking for part-time days.
• Supportive specialist school environment with opportunities for continued professional development.
• Opportunity to make a meaningful difference to children and young people with additional needs.
• Trial day offered - no formal interview required.
