Flexible Workforce Solutions are delighted to be recruiting for an experienced and passionate Sous Chef to join a highly regarded boutique hotel in Edinburgh.
This is an excellent opportunity for a talented chef looking to take the next step in their career within a quality-driven operation that combines a busy restaurant, private events, and guest dining. Working closely with the Head Chef, you will play a key role in delivering exceptional food standards, supporting kitchen operations, and helping to develop a motivated and engaged brigade.

The Role
As Sous Chef, you will support the day-to-day management of the kitchen, ensuring smooth service across all food outlets while maintaining the highest standards of quality, presentation, and consistency.
Responsibilities include:

• Supporting the Head Chef with the daily running of the kitchen
• Preparing, cooking, and presenting dishes to a consistently high standard
• Assisting with menu development and seasonal menu planning
• Managing stock levels, ordering, and supplier relationships
• Monitoring food costs, waste control, and kitchen efficiencies
• Supervising, motivating, and developing junior members of the brigade
• Ensuring all food hygiene, health & safety, and HACCP standards are maintained
• Organising kitchen operations during service and maintaining a calm, professional environment
• Working closely with front-of-house teams to deliver an exceptional guest experience
• Supporting the Head Chef in achieving financial and operational targets

About You
We are looking for a chef who is passionate about hospitality, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and enjoys leading by example.
To be successful, you will have:

• Previous experience as a Sous Chef or an ambitious Junior Sous Chef ready to progress
• Strong culinary skills gained within a hotel, restaurant, or quality hospitality environment
• Experience managing stock, food costs, and kitchen administration
• A sound understanding of food safety, allergen management, and HACCP procedures
• Strong leadership and team development skills
• The ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining high standards
• Excellent communication and organisational abilities
• Professional culinary qualifications or equivalent experience
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and peak hospitality periods
