English Teacher - Maternity Cover

Start Date: November 2026
Contract: Maternity Cover - potentially until July 2027
Pay: 175 - 271 per day, depending on experience and pay scale

Spencer Clarke Group are working with a secondary school in the Accrington area to recruit a qualified English Teacher for a maternity cover position starting in November 2026.

The role is expected to run on a long-term basis, potentially through until the end of the academic year in July 2027.

We are looking for a qualified teacher who is confident delivering English across KS3 and KS4 and can take responsibility for planning, delivering lessons and assessing pupil progress throughout the placement.

The Role

• Full-time English teaching position
• Teaching English across KS3 and KS4
• Maternity cover starting November 2026
• Potential to continue until July 2027
• Full classroom responsibilities including planning, marking and assessment
• Paid to the relevant teacher pay scale at approximately 175 - 271 per day

Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification
• Experience teaching English within a secondary school setting
• Strong knowledge of the KS3 and KS4 English curriculum
• Confident classroom and behaviour management
• Ability to commit to a long-term maternity cover position
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one
