Internal / Graduate Sales Executive

The business

My client is a well-established, independent B2B business that has been running for over 25 years. They supply specialist instrumentation, such as flow, pressure and control equipment, from leading international manufacturers. Their customers work in science and technology, pharma, nuclear, food, energy, universities and the process industries. They've grown from 4 people to around 14 in the last few years by investing in good people. The team is energetic and driven, the culture is friendly and sociable, and there's a real appetite for growth.

The role

You'll be the first point of contact for customers who come to the business looking for the right instrument for their application. That means genuinely understanding what they need, working out the solution, and turning it into an accurate quote quickly.

Day to day you'll be:

• Handling enquiries by phone and email: asking the right questions, understanding the customer's application without making assumptions, and gathering the technical detail needed.
• Quoting: working with suppliers on pricing and lead times, sizing instruments using supplier tools, and building quotations in HubSpot and Sage, usually turning them around within two working hours.
• Following up: chasing quotes, answering customer questions, handling re-quotes and converting opportunities into orders.
• Outbound calling: contacting existing customers and warm contacts to uncover upcoming requirements and move opportunities forward.
• Presenting: running virtual presentations and product conversations with B2B customers.
• Working with the directors: flagging potential projects and working closely with them on bigger opportunities and OEM accounts.
• Keeping on top of admin: logging activity and pipeline in HubSpot CRM, and checking order acknowledgements for technical accuracy.

About you

This is a great role if you're starting out in your career. It would equally suit someone with experience who still has plenty of drive and value to bring, and not quite ready to stop working yet!

• A technical or science degree, or equivalent analytical experience. Recent graduates are very welcome, as are those with a lengthy track record and still wants to make a difference.
• An analytical mind and a real curiosity about how things work. If you like getting into the detail, you'll love this.
• Confidence on the phone and on camera, with an engaging, friendly manner with customers.
• A sharp eye for detail and pride in getting things right.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• A team player who is comfortable following set processes and is open to training and continuous improvement.

An understanding of instrumentation, pumps, valves or the process industries would be a real bonus, but it isn't essential.
