Senior Quantity Surveyor – Water & Infrastructure

Location: North London
Salary: £60,000 – £75,000 + benefits
Employment Type: Permanent
Hours: 42.5 hours per week

The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join Barhale, a leading UK civil engineering and infrastructure contractor.

This is a North London-based opportunity for a commercially experienced QS who has worked on water, utilities or infrastructure projects .

You will be responsible for managing the commercial performance of projects, working closely with project teams, clients and subcontractors.

What We're Looking For

We're particularly interested in candidates with:

• Experience as a Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor within construction, civil engineering or infrastructure.
• Strong experience working on water, wastewater, utilities or infrastructure projects .
• Experience managing projects around £1m–£5m in value.
• Strong knowledge of NEC3 and/or NEC4 contracts .
• Experience with Target Cost contracts .
• Strong commercial and cost-control experience.
• Experience preparing and managing CVRs, forecasts and cost reports .
• Experience with cash flow and financial reporting .
• Experience managing subcontract procurement and subcontractor accounts .
• Experience with valuations, payments, accruals and final accounts.
• Good understanding of commercial and contractual risk .
• Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
• Good Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.

Desirable

It would be advantageous if you have:

• Experience working for a direct-delivery contractor .
• Strong water-sector experience .
• Experience with IChemE contracts .
• HND/Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
• RICS membership or working towards it.
• CSCS card.
• Experience in estimating.

Key Responsibilities

You'll be responsible for:

• Managing the commercial performance of projects.
• Preparing monthly CVRs, forecasts and cost reports .
• Monitoring project costs, margins and cash flow.
• Managing subcontract procurement and subcontractor accounts.
• Preparing applications for payment.
• Managing accounts through to final account.
• Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities.
• Supporting contract and change management.
• Working closely with Project Managers, Site Teams and Commercial Managers.
• Liaising with clients, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Providing commercial advice to project teams.
• Supporting and mentoring junior commercial staff.

The Ideal Candidate

We're looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor with a background in water, utilities or civil engineering infrastructure , ideally with experience delivering £1m–£5m projects under NEC3/NEC4 Target Cost contracts .
