Lower Secondary Tutor

Support Learners During Key Stages 3 & Early Secondary Education

We're looking for Lower Secondary Tutors to support children and young people in the DT7 area through personalised 1:1 tuition.

Working on behalf of Local Authorities , you'll provide tailored support to learners who require alternative educational provision. Many students are working below expected levels, have experienced disruptions to their education, or need additional support to build confidence and re-engage with learning.

This is a fantastic opportunity for tutors who enjoy helping students develop strong foundations before progressing into their GCSE years.

Location: DT7 Area

Key Stage: Lower Secondary (KS3)

Hours: Flexible

Pay Rate: 25-30 per hour

Type: 1:1 Tuition

Requirements

Minimum 6 months' experience in an educational setting , including tutoring, teaching, teaching assistant, learning support, mentoring, or similar roles
Experience supporting secondary-aged learners
Strong knowledge of the KS3 curriculum
Ability to deliver engaging and personalised learning sessions
Experience supporting learners with SEND, EHCPs, or additional needs is desirable
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Patient, adaptable, and encouraging approach
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
Driver preferred; alternatively, willingness to travel locally within the DT7 area

Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
ADHD
Anxiety and school avoidance
EHCPs and additional educational needs

Each placement is unique, requiring a flexible approach that helps learners build confidence, improve engagement, and make meaningful educational progress.
