PurposeoftheRole

TheCategoryManagerleadsthedesign,delivery,andend-to-endmanagementofassignedprocurementcategoriesandframeworkagreements,ensuringcommercialvalue,regulatorycompliance,strongsupplierperformance,andhigh-qualityoutcomesformembers.Therolecombinesstrategiccategoryandframeworkdevelopmentandend-to-endsourcing;withresponsibilityfortheeffectivemobilisation,operationalgovernanceandperformanceoftheframework.

KeyResponsibilities

1. CategoryStrategy,MarketInsight&CommercialDevelopment

Leadthestrategicdevelopmentanddeliveryofassignedcategories,ensuringframeworksarecommerciallystrong,compliant,scalable,andalignedwithmemberandsectorpriorities.

Usemarketintelligence,toshapecategorystrategiesandidentifyopportunitiesforvalue,innovation,andimprovedadoption.

Analysespend,pricing,utilisationandmarketriskstoinformcommercialdecisionsandhighlightareasforoptimisation.Provideclearmarketinsight,inflationaryanalysis,andcommercialtoolstosupportstrategicplanninganddecision-making.

2.Sourcing,Tendering&FrameworkDelivery

Plananddeliverend-to-endsourcingprojects,ensuringcompliancewithUKpublicprocurementregulations

Developsourcingandcategorystrategies,documentation,evaluationandpricingmodelsthatreflectmemberneedsandmarketconditions.

Leadsupplierengagement,negotiationandawardprocessestosecurecommerciallyrobust,high-qualityframeworkagreements.

Ensureframeworksaremobilisedeffectively,withclearimplementationplans,communicationandhandover

3 .FrameworkGovernance,Compliance&RiskManagement

Maintainstronggovernanceacrossallframeworks,ensuringdocumentation,processesanddecisionsmeetauditandregulatorystandards

Monitorsupplierperformance,contractualcommitments,KPIsandriskindicators,escalatingissuesanddrivingcorrectiveactionwhererequired.

Managechangecontrol,costpricereviewsandcontractualvariationstomaintaincommercialintegrityandmembervalue.

Ensureframeworksremaincompliant,up-to-dateandresponsivetosectorchanges,regulatoryupdatesandemergingrisks.

4. SupplierRelationship&PerformanceManagement

Actasthecategoryleadforsupplierrelationships,ensuringsuppliersdeliverconsistentlyhighperformanceandmembervalue.

Conductregularsupplierreviews,performanceassessmentsandstrategicdiscussionstodrivecontinuousimprovement.

Usedata,KPIsandmemberfeedbacktochallengeunderperformanceandsupportsuppliersindeliveringagreedoutcomes.

Promoteinnovation,sustainability,socialvalueandsector-wideimprovementsthroughproactivesupplierengagement.

5. Engagement,Collaboration&SectorSupport

Engagewithmemberstounderstandneeds,gatherfeedbackandensureframeworksremainrelevantandeffective.

Provideclearguidance,trainingandcommunicationtosupportmemberutilisationandbestpractice.

Collaboratewithpartnersandsectorbodiestoaligncategorystrategies,shareintelligenceandsupportsector-wideinitiatives.

Representtheorganisationonworkinggroups,eventsandcollaborativeprojectstostrengthensectorimpactandknowledgesharing.

6. Data,Systems&Reporting

Ensureaccurateandtimelyupdatesacrossprocurement,contractandsuppliermanagementsystems.

Usedatatomonitorutilisation,performance,riskandcommercialoutcomes,producingclearreportsandinsightsfordecision-making.

Maintainhighstandardsofdataquality,auditreadinessanddocumentationaccuracyacrossallcategoryandframeworkactivities.

Supportcontinuousimprovementthroughanalysis,reportingandidentificationofopportunitiesforefficiencyandenhancedmembervalue.

EssentialSkills&Experience

Provenexperienceinpublicsectorprocurementandcomplexcategorymanagement.

StrongknowledgeofUKpublicprocurementregulations

Experiencedesigning,procuringanddeliveringframeworkagreementsandcomplexsourcingprojects.

Strongexperienceinsuppliernegotiation,contractmanagement,supplierrelationshipmanagementandperformancemanagement.

Abilitytointerpretcomplexrequirementsandtranslatethemintoeffectiveprocurementandcategorystrategies.

Strongcommercialacumenanddata-drivendecision-makingskills.

Experienceusingprocurement,supplierandcontractmanagementsystems.

Excellentcommunication,stakeholdermanagement,influencingandrelationship-buildingskills.

Strongorganisationalskills,withtheabilitytomanagemultipleprocurementprojectsandongoingframeworkresponsibilities.
