Senior Rural Surveyor

Ashby de la Zouch
Full-time (37.5 hours per week)

The Opportunity

I'm working with a well-established and highly respected property and land consultancy looking to add a Senior Rural Surveyor to their growing team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a busy and supportive rural division, working across a varied portfolio and advising a wide range of clients — from private landowners through to developers and investors.

You'll be based across Atherstone and Ashby, covering a broad regional patch, with a strong team around you but plenty of autonomy in your role.

What you'll be doing

  • Rural property agency work – instructions, marketing, negotiations, sales progression
  • Valuations – Red Book across a variety of rural assets
  • Land & estate management – FBTs, contract farming and general management
  • RPA & grants – BPS, Countryside Stewardship and related schemes
  • Planning & development – supporting applications and advising on opportunities
  • Client advisory across rural property portfolios
  • Involvement in dispersal and collective sales

It's a genuinely varied role with exposure across the full rural spectrum

What they're looking for

  • MRICS qualified (Registered Valuer desirable)
  • Strong background across rural surveying (agency, valuation, management etc.)
  • Genuine interest in farming / agricultural sector
  • Confident, personable and able to build strong client relationships
  • Organised, proactive and able to manage your own workload
  • Full UK driving licence and own vehicle

What's on offer

  • Competitive basic salary
  • Car allowance + additional benefits
  • 25 days holiday (increasing with service) + birthday off
  • Pension scheme
  • Health & wellbeing support (including GP access)
  • Life assurance
  • Strong long-term career progression

Why it's worth a chat

  • Proper variety (not just one discipline)
  • Strong reputation in the market
  • Supportive team but not micromanaged
  • Opportunity to grow your client base and career
  • Manage a varied portfolio of rural estates, farms, agricultural land and property.
  • Provide professional advice to landowners, farmers and rural property clients.
  • Undertake rural property valuations for a range of purposes.
  • Advise on agricultural tenancies, farm business tenancies, leases and rent reviews.
  • Support clients with estate management, land use and property-related matters.
  • Negotiate tenancy agreements, lease renewals and other property transactions.
  • Assist with the sale, purchase and letting of farms, land and rural properties.
  • Identify opportunities to maximise the value and performance of rural assets.
  • Advise on land diversification, development opportunities and alternative income streams.
  • Maintain strong relationships with existing clients while developing new business opportunities.
  • Prepare professional reports, valuations and recommendations.
  • Keep up to date with relevant rural property legislation, agricultural policy and market trends.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A degree in Rural Estate Management, Land Management, Rural Surveying or a related discipline.
  • Ideally MRICS qualified or working towards RICS accreditation (APC).
  • Previous experience within rural surveying, estate management, agricultural property or land agency.
  • A good understanding of agricultural tenancies, rural property valuations and estate management.
  • Knowledge of rural property legislation, land use and agricultural matters.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to advise landowners, farmers and rural property clients.
  • Good commercial awareness and the ability to identify opportunities for clients.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied workload.
  • Strong negotiation, report-writing and problem-solving skills.
  • A proactive, professional and enthusiastic approach.
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to rural properties and client sites.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their experience, take on greater responsibility and build a long-term career within an established rural property business.
