Consultant Community Paediatrician and Named Doctor for Safeguarding

Overview

In this role you lead safeguarding for the Community Paediatric Services, providing expert guidance and oversight to embed safeguarding within clinical practice. You will work with cross-functional teams and partner agencies to strengthen multi-agency safeguarding arrangements and improve outcomes for children. Your leadership will ensure cohesive safeguarding across community and acute services. This is a strategic, impact-driven post within Croydon Health Services NHS Trust.

Responsibilities

• Lead safeguarding activities across the community service and provide expert supervision to healthcare professionals
• Promote high standards of safeguarding practice aligned with national guidance and local procedures
• Provide strategic leadership and oversight for safeguarding, in collaboration with the Named Doctor for Safeguarding Children in Acute Paediatrics
• Establish and maintain strong collaborative relationships with statutory and partner agencies
• Contribute to multi-agency safeguarding arrangements, strategy discussions, case reviews and safeguarding partnerships
• Support interagency working to improve outcomes for children and young people
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to embed safeguarding within service delivery

Key requirements

• MB BS; MRCPCH; Full GMC registration; Specialist Register in Community Paediatrics or within six months of CCT
• At least 3 years Higher Specialist Training including 2 years in Community Paediatrics
• Level 3 Safeguarding Training and valid BLS Training
• Portfolio Pathway applicants must be on Specialist Register at application
• Experience in safeguarding and interagency collaboration (essential)
