Overview

Recycling Centre Site Operative role supporting Essex Waste Partnership’s zero-waste mission. You’ll help manage site safety, assist the public, and coordinate waste movements with subcontractors, contributing to efficient operations at our Braintree recycling hub. The role offers development opportunities, practical training, and benefits, with occasional travel to other centres. Your work helps protect the environment while supporting community services.

Responsibilities

• Assist the public with queries and complaints
• Keep the site clean, tidy, and risk-free
• Provide clear instructions to subcontractors/hauliers
• Operate plant machinery and oversee waste movements
• Ensure materials are stored for optimal recycling
• Maintain compliance with safety standards
• Support safe and efficient site operations
• Assist with administrative tasks as needed
• Possible work at other Recycling Centres

Key requirements

• Able to work on foot for lengthy periods
• Ability to work with and without supervision as part of a team
• Experience in a customer-facing role
• Able to perform manual handling tasks
• Able to read and write basic tasks
• Willingness to learn new systems
• Willing to undertake necessary training (First Aid, Plant Operator, Fire Marshall)
• Desirable: Full driving licence

• Plant operator considerations (NPORS or similar)
• Safety accreditation (IOSH Working Safely or equivalent)
