R&D Tax Manager

Overview

In this role you will lead a portfolio of R&D tax relief claims for mid to large UK clients from inception to review. You’ll work with a specialist team to ensure compliant, timely processing and high-quality reports. You will engage with clients through seminars and meetings, drive process improvements, and support business development. This is a Belfast-based, hybrid, client-facing position that values expertise, collaboration, and precise execution.

Responsibilities

• Manage client portfolio from inception to review
• Streamline workflows and ensure timely completion of jobs
• Lead and mentor team through the R&D process
• Engage with clients through educational seminars (in-person & Teams)
• Improve client record-keeping and processes
• Ensure compliance and quality; interview clients and review reports
• Handle HMRC enquiries and resolve queries
• Train junior staff and share knowledge
• Drive business development and client success

Key requirements

• Demonstrable experience in R&D tax relief
• Excellent report writing and communication skills
• Strong client-facing experience
• Up-to-date knowledge of legislation & case law
• Proven ability to manage teams and deadlines
