As a Senior Python Developer, you will lead the build of a new data and application platform in an agile, high-quality environment. You will design scalable backend services, data pipelines, and RESTful APIs, aligning technical decisions with business needs in investment banking. You’ll mentor the team, drive architecture choices, and improve tooling and standards while delivering robust solutions. This role offers impactful work shaping a critical enterprise platform and collaborating across cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain scalable back-end services and APIs using Python
Build and optimize data pipelines on Databricks
Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines and release processes in Azure DevOps
Advise on architecture, design decisions, and best practices for the new platform
Mentor developers through code reviews and pair programming
Define and consume RESTful APIs and communicate requirements across teams
Translate business requirements into robust technical solutions
Apply clean code principles and improve engineering standards and tooling
Write and maintain automated tests (unit, integration)
Participate in agile ceremonies (Scrum/Kanban) and refine plans
Collaborate with QA, product managers, and architects to ensure high-quality deliveries
Support and improve existing applications in a fast-paced enterprise environment
Key requirements
At least 8 years of professional software development experience
Strong hands-on Python development skills
Proven experience designing, building, and maintaining ETL processes
Strong SQL skills including query and performance tuning
Experience with Sybase ASE and/or IQ including database development and stored procedures
Good working knowledge of Unix/Linux and shell scripting
Experience in automated testing of applications and data processes
Clean coding skills
Excellent problem-solving skills
Familiarity with agile practices (Scrum, Kanban)
Good communication skills and the ability to state requirements clearly across teams
