Product Owner

Overview

In this Product Owner role within the Financial Crime (FC) Chief Data and Analytics Office, you own data products and platforms used for compliance and crime detection. You’ll align stakeholders, drive the product vision, and ensure reusable, high-value data solutions for analysts, investigators, and data scientists. You collaborate across business, architecture, and technology to deliver data-driven capabilities in data lakes and cloud environments. This is a chance to shape data platforms that enable safer financial services and advanced analytics.

Responsibilities

• Act as primary liaison with users and stakeholders
• Define priorities and manage team activities
• Promote the product vision across the organization
• Improve reuse and align with architects to reduce future costs
• Coach and support other Product Owners to raise agile maturity
• Manage the to-be product vision for value streams and beyond
• Translate customer needs into backlog items and acceptance criteria
• Maintain a visible, clear Team Backlog and define the backlog intake process
• Ensure demand fits HSBC strategy and reuse of assets
• Collaborate with Agile Team to inspect, track progress and assure delivery

Key requirements

• Product Owner experience in financial services and/or technology with agile methodologies (scrum or kanban)
• Data analysis/engineering/analytics experience; SQL and Python desirable
• Familiarity with financial services environments and customer products
• Understanding of data security, privacy, and access for multi-jurisdiction data
• Experience in financial crime domain desirable
• Ability to influence senior stakeholders and secure buy-in for product strategies
• Strong leadership, prioritisation, and communication across business and technology teams
• Ability to model complex problems and design data-driven solutions under constraints
• Proactive in building domain knowledge and tooling in anti-financial crime and data services
• Open to diverse viewpoints and inclusive collaboration
