Underwriter - International Wholesale Liability

Overview

In this role you will deliver profitable underwriting services for international liability clients within the London Wholesale Casualty unit. You will assess risk, structure risk transfer, and manage relationships with brokers and insureds to support growth and retention. You’ll work with cross-functional teams on planning, pricing, and claims input to ensure sustainable profitability. Responsibilities

• Underwrite within approved authority and business plan
• Support business planning and forecasting processes
• Monitor financial exposure and premium income within limits
• Maintain awareness of claims and assist with settlements
• Arrange and monitor sufficient reinsurance (excess of loss and quota share)
• Build and sustain broker and client relationships
• Assist in designing and structuring risks
• Review submissions and conduct risk research
• Cross-sell products and support account retention
• Coordinate with internal teams on reinsurance and policy changes
• Support loss control reviews and endorsement processing

Key requirements

• Casualty underwriting experience and market knowledge
• Technical knowledge of casualty/liability insurance and reinsurance
• Demonstrated progression through underwriting roles with authority
• Analytical capability, negotiation and sales skills
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Interpersonal savvy and ability to manage insured and broker contacts
• Ability to understand business processes, strategy and planning
