Senior Town Planner

Overview

In this role you will lead town planning projects from initial client engagement to planning determination, working within a collaborative team to deliver effective planning outcomes. You will advise on residential, commercial, and strategic developments while staying current with Green Belt and Grey Belt policy. The position blends client-facing responsibilities with mentorship to junior staff and opportunities to influence high‑profile developments. Responsibilities

• Lead planning projects from inception to determination
• Manage programmes, budgets, and client relationships
• Prepare and review planning applications, appeals, and supporting docs
• Lead and attend client meetings
• Build productive relationships with Local Planning Authorities and statutory consultees
• Provide planning advice across residential, commercial, and strategic development
• Keep up to date with changes in planning legislation and policy (Green Belt/Grey Belt)
• Mentor junior team members and contribute specialist planning expertise to larger projects

Key requirements

• UK planning system knowledge
• Minimum 3 years' planning experience in consultancy or local authority
• MRTPI qualification or working towards chartered membership
• Experience with Green Belt, Grey Belt, residential or commercial projects
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Confidence presenting to clients, stakeholders, and planning officers
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel in the region
