In this role you will discharge Principal Contractor responsibilities under CDM 2015 and lead on-site delivery for high-voltage transmission projects. You will coordinate civil, mechanical and electrical works, manage day-to-day site operations and ensure safe, on-time project outcomes. You will lead safety culture, site meetings and stakeholder interactions to keep projects compliant and advancing. This position offers the chance to impact major 400kV substations and live network environments within a collaborative, technically driven team. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver quality, on-budget outcomes at scale.
Responsibilities
Discharge Principal Contractor responsibilities under CDM 2015
Develop and manage the Construction Phase Plan and site management arrangements
Coordinate civil, mechanical and electrical construction activities
Manage day-to-day site operations for safe, efficient delivery
Coordinate contractors, suppliers, direct labour and stakeholders on site
Review and implement RAMS, permits and work packs before work starts
Monitor progress, resources, plant and materials; take corrective action as needed
Lead site meetings, toolbox talks, inspections, audits and daily briefings
Promote a positive safety culture
Key requirements
Significant experience as Site Manager / PCSM delivering major Transmission & Distribution or substation projects
National Grid SR163 accreditation and SMSTS with IOSH or NEBOSH certification
Strong CDM Regulations knowledge and understanding of Principal Contractor duties
Experience managing Civil, Mechanical and Electrical substation construction activities
Proven ability reviewing RAMS, managing Temporary Works and completing ITPs
Strong site setup, coordination and project delivery know-how
Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management
