Senior Data Architect (SAP Business Data Cloud & Databricks)- Associate Data Architect II

Overview

In this contract role, you will lead the architecture for a strategic pilot migrating analytics data integrations from SAP DI to SAP BDC within a Databricks-based platform. You’ll shape end-to-end data integration design, data models, and load strategies, aligned with enterprise standards. You collaborate with cross‑functional teams and SAP/enterprise architects to ensure governance, security, and scalable delivery. You will drive architecture proposals and artefacts to design authorities, delivering a robust future-state architecture. This is a hands-on leadership role with significant impact on enterprise analytics maturity.

Responsibilities

• Lead high-level and detailed architecture design for three SAP BDC data integrations into a Databricks analytics platform
• Define integration architectures, ingestion patterns, data processing flows, and Medallion Architecture load strategies
• Develop source-aligned conceptual, logical, and physical data models, including detailed data mappings
• Document current As-Is architecture and future-state Target State leveraging SAP BDC
• Validate target-state designs can be implemented without business disruption
• Assess compatibility between existing and future-state data models and integration patterns
• Define testing, validation, and migration requirements
• Ensure designs comply with security, privacy, governance, and regulatory standards
• Present architecture proposals and artefacts to Architecture Review Boards and Design Authority forums
• Partner with Product Managers, Data Engineers, Analysts, SAP Architects, Solution Architects, and stakeholders
• Provide technical leadership and guidance throughout design and planning lifecycle
• Identify risks, dependencies, constraints, and mitigation strategies
• Produce and maintain architecture artefacts (solution designs, ADRs, standards)
• Influence data architecture best practices and enterprise standards

Key requirements

• Proven experience as Data Architect or similar senior role
• Strong experience with modern cloud-based data platforms, preferably Databricks
• Extensive expertise in enterprise data architecture and data modelling
• Hands-on experience designing large-scale data integration and analytics solutions
• Strong understanding of SAP ecosystems and data integration architectures
• Experience designing solutions consuming or modelling data from SAP platforms
• Deep knowledge of Data Integration Patterns, Ingestion Frameworks, APIs and Service-Based Architectures, Event-Driven Architectures, Data Lakehouse, Medallion Architecture, Large-Scale Data Processing
• Ability to create designs implementable by engineering teams
• Strong governance, security, privacy, compliance, regulatory knowledge
