Finance Manager

Overview

In this Finance Manager role, you own the day-to-day finance function within a small, owner-managed manufacturing business. You will work closely with the Managing Director to deliver timely financial information and insights across management accounts, budgeting, forecasting, stock, and cost of sales. The position offers genuine influence on commercial performance and strategic decision-making. This is a hands-on, varied role with scope to shape financial controls and analysis while supporting business growth.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate monthly management accounts
• Manage budgets, forecasts and financial planning
• Own inventory accounting and stock control
• Oversee WIP and cost of sales
• Analyse margins and profitability
• Provide MD with reliable financial information
• Support business decisions with financial analysis
• Lead and develop a small finance team
• Maintain robust financial controls and reporting

Key requirements

• Previous experience as Finance Manager or similar hands-on role
• Strong manufacturing finance experience
• Solid understanding of inventory, stock control and WIP
• Experience with margin analysis and cost of sales
• Proven track record in management accounts, budgets and forecasts
• Ability to work closely with owner/Managing Director
• Hands-on approach and attention to detail
• ACA/ACCA or CIMA qualified, or strong QBE
