Mechanical Craftsperson

Overview

In this role, you will maintain mechanical services across NHS Trust sites, focusing on healthcare water systems and related equipment. You’ll work within a collaborative team to ensure reliable operations and compliance with KPI targets. You’ll handle a range of craft tasks, participate in on-call rotation, and support safety and quality through proper paperwork and site duties. This is a hands-on position at Barberry, Oleaster and Zinnia, with potential expansion to other contract areas.

Responsibilities

• Perform the complete range of Mechanical Craftsperson tasks as directed by management
• Maintain services to NHS Trust and complete all related paperwork accurately
• Operate within EQUANS KPI framework and contract requirements
• Apply knowledge of healthcare water systems, maintenance and testing activities
• Demonstrate awareness of Legionella and other water pathogens
• Conduct temperature monitoring, shower head cleaning and disinfection, tank inspections, TMV and AHU servicing
• Drive company vehicle as required
• Participate in on-call rota

Key requirements

• NVQ or C&G Level 2 Heating/Vent/Plumbing
• Legionella/TMV/Disinfection awareness and training
• Water Hygiene Training (Desirable)
• Driving licence
• DBS Standard check requirement

• Knowledge of water/hydraulic systems in healthcare environments
• Maintenance and testing activities for healthcare facilities
• Legionella and water pathogen awareness
• TMV servicing and AHU servicing
• Temperature monitoring and cleaning/disinfection procedures
