Head of Data Operations - Hedge Fund

Overview

In this role you will lead London market data operations for a global investment business, ensuring high-quality market and reference data across multiple asset classes. You’ll work closely with front office and control functions to define data requirements, deliver new datasets, and oversee testing and releases. You will manage data vendors, drive data quality, and mentor a small team across time zones. This is a visible role that combines technical execution with stakeholder management to keep data timely, accurate, and fit for purpose. You’ll operate in a collaborative, data-driven environment with regional teams in New York and Singapore and a strong focus on impact for trading, research

Responsibilities

• Own and run market data services for London in a global context
• Improve data quality, accuracy and operational efficiency across asset classes
• Collaborate with Trading, Research, Risk, Compliance and Middle Office to understand data needs
• Define requirements, deliver new datasets, and support business initiatives
• Evaluate data vendors and oversee testing and production releases
• Act as technical point of contact for complex data issues
• Mentor and manage a small data operations team across regions

Key requirements

• Experience as a Data Analyst in financial services with front office or market data exposure
• Experience with market data vendors (e.g., Bloomberg, Refinitiv, ICE)
• Knowledge of financial instruments, market data, pricing and time series data
• Proficiency in Python and SQL, handling large datasets
• Experience working with trading, research, risk or compliance stakeholders
• Strong analytical, problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and communicate with technical and business users
• 2.1 or above in a relevant quantitative field
