Overview

In this Financial Accountant role, you will support accurate financial reporting across UK statutory accounts, tax, inventory, R&D accounting, and business partnering within a growing technology-focused company. You will work closely with the Finance Manager and cross-functional teams to provide insights that inform commercial decisions and drive month-end discipline. The role covers balance sheet ownership, revenue and gross margin reconciliations, and statutory/tax work, with exposure to year-end processes and audits. You will mentor junior colleagues and contribute to robust financial controls in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Own inventory and stock accounting, provisions, turnover analysis and reporting
Prepare inventory reporting and engage with operational stakeholders
Maintain and reconcile capitalised R&D projects
Assess accounting treatment of development expenditure with project teams
Take responsibility for the fixed asset register
Prepare and review accruals and prepayments
Own monthly revenue and gross margin reconciliations
Maintain deferred revenue schedules
Complete balance sheet reconciliations
Support and mentor junior Finance team members
Support statutory reporting, audit and tax activities
Assist with UK statutory financial statements and reporting schedules
Ensure compliance with accounting policies and reporting standards (FRS 102)
Liaise with overseas accounting providers for subsidiaries
Support external audits and act as main point of contact for auditors
Assist with UK tax computations and external tax advisers
Support R&D-related tax claims
Own annual warranty provision calculations

Key requirements

Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
Strong month-end and reporting discipline under tight deadlines
Solid understanding of FRS 102
Experience in statutory reporting, audit and tax
Experience with inventory, fixed assets and revenue/gross margin reconciliations
