Overview

As a Senior Underwriter in Hiscox Schemes, you will shape and deliver underwriting for new and existing schemes, partnering with broker networks to drive profitable growth. You’ll influence underwriting strategy, governance, and product opportunities while mentoring junior colleagues. This role supports Hiscox’s ambition to expand the schemes book in line with our 2030 goals, in a collaborative, hybrid-working environment in Manchester.

Responsibilities

Deliver underwriting components for new and existing schemes, including financial modelling, exposure assessment, and wordings/reviews
Act as senior referral point for complex cases and contribute to profitable growth plans for the sector
Stay updated on new risks within chosen sectors to maintain market-leading position
Collaborate with Sector Lead to develop products and propositions for current and future portfolios
Mentor and develop junior team members and influence underwriting strategy and portfolio management
Take ownership of relationships and accountability for key strategic broker partners
Ensure governance compliance across the delivery process and schemes portfolio

Key requirements

Significant underwriting and analytical experience
ACII qualification or progression towards
Strong decision-making in complex situations
Data analysis skills and ability to translate insights into underwriting decisions
Independent yet collaborative work style with strong interpersonal skills
Proven ability to influence across internal/external stakeholders
Openness to new ideas, innovation, and educated risk-taking
Results-driven mindset and ability to operate on own initiative
