Model Risk Actuary

Overview

In this role you will broaden your actuarial scope by leading independent model reviews across pricing, reporting, economic capital and R&D for a global life reinsurer. You will scope, challenge and validate methodologies, working closely with model owners to strengthen governance and controls. The position offers broad exposure, senior stakeholder interaction and opportunities to drive model risk standards and remediation actions.

Responsibilities

• Lead or own independent reviews and validation of actuarial models
• Assess methodologies, assumptions, controls and overall model robustness
• Challenge modelling approaches and form an independent view on methodologies
• Review significant model changes and identify material model risk
• Perform or oversee independent baselining and validation work
• Collaborate with model owners to agree findings, recommendations and remediation actions
• Monitor progress against actions from previous reviews
• Review model inventory and risk assessments
• Contribute to development of model risk standards, governance and best practice
• Produce clear review reports and management information for senior stakeholders
• Support broader Model Risk Management initiatives across the business

Key requirements

• Recently qualified to around 3 years PQE
• Experience with independent model review, challenge and governance
• Exposure to actuarial models in pricing, reporting, capital or R&D (preferred)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to engage with senior stakeholders across functions
• Background in an actuarial modelling environment
