Overview

In this role you support the delivery of philosophical research programmes and events at LSE, working closely with the CPNSS Centre Manager and the Philosophy Department Manager. You will handle event logistics, from hotels and room bookings to calendar invites and on-site support, and you will administer the visitor programme and staff/PhD funds administration. The position is mainly campus-based with some evenings and flexible working patterns across the year. You will contribute to a busy, contributing-to-mission environment that values research impact and public engagement.

Responsibilities

Support delivery of philosophical research programmes and events (lectures, conferences, public events)
Arrange hotels, room bookings and catering; prepare calendar invites; provide event-day support
Administer visitor programme: greet visiting researchers, onboarding and offboarding, ongoing support
Assist with administration of staff and PhD research funds, expense reimbursements, and related records
Contribute to general budget administration: processing expenses and invoices
Role is predominantly campus-based with occasional evenings to support events

Key requirements

Excellent organisational skills with the ability to plan, prioritise and meet competing deadlines
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; provide professional, responsive service to staff, visitors and stakeholders
Ability to work with limited supervision and use initiative; know when to escalate
Strong attention to detail and adherence to procedures
Administrative support experience, including event organisation/delivery in academic or research settings
Experience with general budget administration, including processing expenses and invoices
