In this role you will help modernise a sophisticated C++ trading system into a scalable, high-performance Java application. You’ll work closely with Front Office traders, product specialists and experienced engineers to design real-time trading technology with tangible business impact. You will have ownership over architectural decisions and contribute to shaping the future platform, while leveraging AI-assisted tools like Claude to boost productivity. This is a hands-on, growth-focused role in a scaling FinTech with a collaborative culture.

Responsibilities
backend Java development for real-time trading systems
modernise C++ trading system into scalable Java applications
design and build robust, secure, high-performance trading technology
collaborate with Front Office trading teams, product specialists and engineers
influence architecture and make technical decisions
work with AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery
Key requirements
strong backend, multithreaded Java development experience
strong knowledge of financial markets and experience with trading systems
good understanding of real-time system development and latency
comfortable using AI tools such as Claude
collaborative and pragmatic with client-facing communication skills
curious with advanced critical thinking and problem-solving
understanding of C++ beneficial but not essential
minimum 2.1 BSc in Computer Science or similar from a top-tier/Russell Group university
