Trials Manager

Overview

In this role you lead a team of SQEPs and SMEs to deliver safe OME trials under the Long-Term Partnering Agreement. You develop risk assessments and Safe Systems of Work, present safety briefs, and oversee trial activities to ensure compliance and safety. You will manage changes through HAM, deviations, and change control, ensuring activities meet technical and customer requirements. The role is on-site at Shoeburyness and involves travel, with a focus on safe, efficient, and compliant ordnance activities.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of SQEPs and SMEs to deliver safe OME trials under LTPA
• Produce comprehensive risk assessments and Safe Systems of Work
• Present Safe Systems of Work and deliver safety briefs for trial activities
• Supervise trial activities to ensure compliance with SSOW, policies and range procedures
• Manage changes to trial activities via HAM, deviations/waivers and Change Control
• Ensure OME activities, safety distances and Weapon Danger Areas meet requirements

Key requirements

• Experience in safe management, supervision and delivery of OME or other high-hazard activities
• Experience implementing Safe Systems of Work (Safe People, Safe Places, Safe Equipment, Safe Practice)
• Experience organising, executing and reporting on trial activities
• Experience developing Safe Systems of Work and risk assessments
• Good knowledge of OME and related hazards; flexible to support other Land Ranges
• Proficiency in MS Office and Microsoft 365; willingness to further training
