Housing Assessment and Advice Manager

Overview

In this role you lead the Homelessness Prevention Team within Housing Services to deliver high-quality, customer-focused housing advice and homelessness prevention. You will drive case oversight, decision quality, risk management, and statutory compliance, while collaborating with internal and external partners to reduce homelessness and improve outcomes. As a senior leader, you shape services, support continuous improvement, and alignment with Newcastle’s ambitions. Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of the Homelessness Prevention Team and oversee housing advice and homelessness prevention services
• Manage statutory homelessness assessments and emergency homelessness responses
• Provide leadership to managers and frontline staff, driving performance and continuous improvement
• Ensure robust decision-making, risk management, and legislative/compliance adherence
• Collaborate with internal services and external partners to shape and develop services
• Support delivery of strategic priorities and city-wide housing outcomes
• Maintain a focus on service quality and positive customer outcomes
• Oversee complex housing and homelessness cases

Key requirements

• Substantial experience of managing housing advice, homelessness or related services
• Excellent knowledge of housing and homelessness legislation
• Strong people management skills
• Ability to lead through change while maintaining service quality
• Proven track record of working with partners and delivering outcomes
