Overview

In this IP role at Dyson, you will manage IP risks and opportunities for new projects and technologies, collaborating with RDD to safeguard innovation. You will provide strategic IP advice and lead global patent prosecution to protect Dyson’s technologies. You will work with outside counsel on patent drafting and support the Litigation team in IP disputes. This position sits at a state-of-the-art campus in Malmesbury and offers broad exposure to cutting-edge products. You help Dyson sustain leadership by translating complex IP issues into business-focused actions.

Responsibilities

• Identify and manage IP risks and opportunities for new projects and technologies
• Advise on IP risks via freedom-to-operate searches and challenge third-party rights' validity
• Engage with outside counsel to support patent drafting
• Prosecute patent applications globally to deliver strategically relevant patents cost-effectively
• Support the Litigation team with IP disputes, including reviewing competitor products

Key requirements

• Qualified or part-qualified UK and/or European Patent Attorney
• Background in mechanical, electrical or chemical engineering preferred, but open to all
• Ability to communicate IP matters clearly to non-IP stakeholders
• Proactive, ownership mindset and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
