Senior Business Analyst – Trading controls

Overview

In this role you will lead analysis and target-state design for a Trading Controls Programme within the banking sector, guiding mandates, product governance, and trading supervision workstreams. You will partner with architecture, technology and business stakeholders to validate solutions and drive delivery. The role focuses on risk-aligned controls, data, and governance, with an emphasis on traceability, measurable outcomes, and real-time monitoring where applicable. You will operate in a hybrid London setting, shaping policy, operating models and remediation efforts that support risk management objectives.

Responsibilities

• Lead analysis and target-state design across Mandates, Product and Trading Supervision with traceability and feasibility
• Elicit requirements via workshops, stakeholder interviews, scenario analysis, and process reviews
• Define trading mandate responsibilities, authorities and controls aligned to business strategy and risk appetite
• Support remediation and design interim/target mandate operating models
• Develop the Product Taxonomy framework including governance and change processes
• Support New Product Policy implementation and Product Governance/Approved Product List ownership
• Define requirements for a central Approved Product List and related data/workflow/technology
• Develop the Trading Supervision Policy, controls catalogue and related operating models
• Assess and prioritise preventative and Real Time/near Real Time control improvements and the transition roadmap
• Define and embed a consistent risk and control escalation framework within the wider Risk Management Framework
• Produce BRDs, functional specs, process maps, data definitions, test scenarios, training materials and implementation plans
• Collaborate with Architecture, Tech and business stakeholders to validate solutions and ensure integration of mandates, product and supervision requirements
• Facilitate workshops and governance reviews to finalize scope, ownership, dependencies, delivery sequencing, acceptance criteria and sign-off
• Manage requirements change, risks, issues and delivery dependencies and escalate material impacts

Key requirements

• Business analysis or change delivery experience in financial markets, trading controls, risk or regulatory remediation
• Knowledge of trading mandates, product governance, Product Taxonomy, Approved Product Lists or trading supervision
• Experience developing policies, operating models, control frameworks, requirements, test scenarios and implementation plans
• Understanding of front-to-back trading processes and relationship between authorities, product data, permissions, controls, risk reporting and supervisory oversight
• Strong stakeholder management, facilitation, negotiation, analytical and written communication skills
• Experience maintaining traceability from findings and requirements through testing and completion evidence
