Overview

In this role you will lead commercial activities across the full tender and contract lifecycle for a pipeline of high-profile UK and international defence programmes. You will collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Finance and Legal to ensure compliant, competitive and robust proposals, from opportunity assessment to contract award. You will manage commercial risk, draft key contractual provisions, and safeguard business objectives across the supply chain. This is a high-impact role that shapes bids and contract terms in a complex, cross-functional environment.

Responsibilities

Lead commercial activities across the full tender and contract lifecycle, from opportunity assessment through submission to contract award
Negotiate commercial terms with customers, suppliers and subcontractors aligning with business objectives and risk appetite
Draft, review and finalise contractual documents including liabilities, warranties, indemnities and other key provisions
Conduct commercial risk assessments identifying and mitigating contractual, operational and financial risks
Ensure contractual obligations and customer requirements flow down through the supply chain
Coordinate governance and cross-functional collaboration with technical, operational and commercial stakeholders

Key requirements

Experience in Commercial Management, Contracts Management or similar in defence, maritime, engineering or complex technical manufacturing environments
Strong contract negotiation, drafting and commercial management experience with understanding of contractual risk
Proven ability to manage commercial bids and tender workstreams within demanding timescales
Experience engaging with technical, operational and commercial stakeholders across cross-functional teams
Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving capabilities
