Nature & Biodiversity Lead

Overview

In this role you will lead the design and delivery of Environmental Net Gain services for landowners and developers, driving biodiversity and nature-based solutions at scale. You will bid for and manage complex projects, including ecological assessments and regulatory work, while mentoring a growing team. The role combines technical leadership with commercial delivery to exceed client expectations and advance nature’s recovery. You’ll work within a fast-growing consultancy to shape services, support growth, and connect with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Co-design and implement Environmental Net Gain solutions and related services (biodiversity, carbon, nutrients, woodland creation).
• Act as technical lead for delivery, including fee proposals, surveys, and assessments (protected species, habitat, biodiversity, nutrient neutrality).
• Shadow Habitat Regulations Assessments (HRA), Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA), and EIA Ecology chapters.
• Manage complex projects with budget and resource planning.
• Line manage and mentor junior staff and support career development.
• Promote services and the company through networks and social channels.

Key requirements

• BSc degree in a relevant environmental discipline
• Professional membership (CIEEM / IEMA)
• Strong critical thinking and application of ecological knowledge
• Proficient Office 365 usage
• Knowledge of Biodiversity Net Gain, natural capital, nutrient neutrality, carbon markets, and environmental land management schemes
