Senior Accountant

Overview

In this role you will own complex accounting areas within Group Controllership, driving accurate close and consolidation across entities. You will work with the Reporting & Technical Accounting Manager to deliver reviewer-ready outputs, investigate aged items, and coach the team to strengthen processes. You’ll lead improvement initiatives within the R2R cycle and provide cover for critical close tasks. Responsibilities

• Own high-complexity entities, accounts and close workstreams
• Prepare and review complex journals, reconciliations, intercompany and FX accounting within delegated scope
• Investigate aged or unusual reconciling items and resolve them at source
• Collaborate with the Reporting & Technical Accounting Manager on consolidation, statutory accounts, audit and technical schedules
• Provide first-level review of allocated work and ensure it meets Finance standards
• Coach colleagues, improve documentation, handovers and backup ownership
• Lead selected control, standardisation or close improvement initiatives within the Group R2R process
• Provide cover for critical close and reporting work across Group entities
• Escalate material or technical judgements to the Reporting & Technical Accounting Manager

Key requirements

• Over 5 years of relevant accounting experience
• Strong R2R, multi-entity accounting, balance sheet reconciliation, intercompany and FX experience
• Ability to review evidence critically and coach others without unnecessary hierarchy
• Strong Excel and ERP skills and a process improvement mindset
• Audit or statutory (FRS102, IFRS) reporting exposure desirable
• Qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA, or equivalent
