Electrical Surveyor

Overview

In this role you ensure electrical safety and compliance across a large housing portfolio by inspecting void properties before and after tenancy, reviewing EICRs, and coordinating testing and certification. You will lead contractor activity to deliver high-quality, compliant works and contribute to residents’ safety and comfort. You work within the Repairs Service to support safe, well-maintained homes and continuous improvement. This is your chance to influence housing safety standards in a dynamic council environment.

Responsibilities

• perform pre- and post-void electrical inspections
• review electrical installation condition reports (EICRs)
• manage testing and certification programmes
• oversee contractors and monitor performance
• produce technical reports and schedules of work
• identify defects and specify remedial works
• ensure compliance with BS 7671 and health and safety legislation
• support continuous improvement and quality assurance

Key requirements

• NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation
• AM2 certification
• City & Guilds 2391 (Inspection & Testing) or equivalent
• experience in electrical inspection, testing and certification
• experience managing contractors and monitoring performance
• strong knowledge of BS 7671 and housing electrical compliance standards
• ability to produce technical reports and schedules of work
