Head of Management Accounts

Overview

As Head of Management Accounts, you lead the Financial Control team and own the integrity of management accounts, balance sheet, and month-end processes. You partner across Legal, Commercial, Product and Technology to translate complex issues into actionable plans. You drive process improvements and automation while safeguarding controls and reporting quality. You deputise for the Group Financial Controller and influence strategic decisions through strong governance and cross-functional partnering.

Responsibilities

• Lead Financial Control team and ensure high standards of delivery
• Provide structure to complex problems and document conclusions for consistent use
• Manage cross-functional projects with Legal, Commercial, Product and Technology to land clear positions
• Oversee month-end processes, balance sheet integrity, reconciliations and working capital analysis
• Act as SME for external reporting and controls; own accounting policy judgements
• Drive internal control improvements and automation to reduce manual effort
• Ensure effective Order-to-Cash processes and identify emerging risks
• Own cost budgeting in partnership with FP&A and support commercial decision-making
• Maintain governance awareness for a listed business and deputise for Group Financial Controller
• Represent Financial Control at key forums and provide senior oversight when needed

Key requirements

• Qualified accountant status (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
• Experience leading senior finance managers or teams
• Strong IFRS knowledge and governance experience
• Proven business partner to senior non-finance stakeholders
• Excellent stakeholder management and project leadership
• Collaborative leadership style and accountability for standards
• Experience with ERP platforms or finance automation tools
• Experience in listed or multi-currency environments (advantage)
