Audit Senior

Overview

In this Audit Senior role, you lead audit assignments from planning through to completion for a varied client portfolio. You’ll work closely with Audit Managers to deliver high-quality reports, strengthen internal controls, and support junior colleagues. The position offers broad client exposure, ongoing professional development, and a clear progression path within a growing practice. You’ll impact client financial reporting under UK GAAP and FRS 102 while maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.

Responsibilities

• Lead audit assignments from planning through to completion
• Assess internal controls and identify weaknesses or opportunities for improvement
• Coordinate fieldwork and monitor assignments against deadlines and budgets
• Prepare and review statutory financial statements under UK GAAP and FRS 102
• Review work by trainees and junior team members
• Discuss audit queries with client finance teams and senior stakeholders
• Provide progress updates to Audit Managers and Responsible Individuals
• Contribute to technical updates, process improvements and departmental projects
• Coach and provide feedback to junior colleagues
• Support audit completion documents and management letters

Key requirements

• ACA or ACCA qualified, part-qualified or finalist level
• UK accountancy practice experience
• Experience leading audits from planning to completion
• Knowledge of UK GAAP, FRS 102 and ISA
• Experience preparing statutory accounts for limited companies and groups
• Experience supervising or supporting junior colleagues
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Clear written and verbal communication skills
• Client-facing confidence and ability to manage deadlines
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to client sites
