Farm Trader

Overview

In this role you will procure combinable crops and sell seed and fertiliser to farmer accounts, while promoting ADM’s technical services. You’ll manage existing relationships and develop new business, aligning with the company’s sustainable agriculture focus. You will leverage market knowledge and contract understanding to maximize account potential and deliver superior service. This position offers a chance to influence crop origination and product positioning within a leading global agribusiness. You will work cross-functionally to support campaigns and environmental goals across the South of England.

Responsibilities

• Purchase grain, oilseeds and pulses from farmers and grow new business
• Negotiate contracts with farmers within ADM terms and price range
• Sell seed and fertiliser to existing accounts and acquire new customers
• Promote campaigns in collaboration with the Retail department
• Follow up on enquiries with strong customer service
• Promote technical services to farmers
• Manage workload to maximise account and business potential
• Operate in an environmentally sustainable manner in line with EMS

Key requirements

• Extensive understanding of combinable crops, OSR, pulses and their markets
• Knowledge of AIC and FOSFA grain contracts
• Knowledge of seed varieties and dressings
• Knowledge of fertiliser types and uses
• Arable farming experience
• Proven ability to build relationships
• Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and using bespoke systems
• Commercial awareness and ability to influence others
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
