2X Environmental Health, Public Health Nuisance Officer

Overview

In this role you will investigate public health and statutory nuisance complaints within Bromley’s Public Health and Nuisance team, taking proportionate remedial or enforcement action when needed. You’ll work with residents, businesses and partners to provide clear guidance while ensuring compliance with legislation. The role offers varied cases across urban, suburban and rural settings, with real impact on homes and community health. You will join a supportive team and have the opportunity to influence public health outcomes in London’s largest borough.

Responsibilities

• Investigate public health and statutory nuisance complaints
• Take proportionate remedial or enforcement action where necessary
• Provide clear, compliant guidance to residents, landlords, businesses and housing providers
• Prioritise and manage a varied caseload with evidence-based decisions
• Collaborate with partners and professional bodies to resolve cases
• Contribute to service delivery across urban, suburban and rural settings

Key requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Environmental Health or related discipline
• Full driving licence
• Willingness to undertake some work outside normal office hours
• Ability to work independently and manage a varied caseload
• Experience in local authority is advantageous but not essential

• Relationship-building with residents and businesses
• Knowledge of environmental health legislation and statutory nuisance provisions
