Alternative Provision Lead

Overview

In this role you drive the strategic development and oversight of a coherent Alternative Provision system to support vulnerable children and young people. You will collaborate with schools, health partners, social care and SEND services to ensure AP is used lawfully, effectively and to promote reintegration. You’ll lead the AP Strategy, governance, commissioning and placement oversight, using data and feedback to continuously improve. This is a chance to shape inclusive education at scale and deliver tangible outcomes for children and families.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement South Gloucestershire's AP Strategy
• Lead governance, commissioning, quality assurance and placement oversight for AP
• Chair and coordinate multi-agency processes to support at-risk students
• Provide professional leadership and challenge to schools and partners on AP use
• Utilise performance data and stakeholder feedback to drive continuous improvement and inform strategic decisions

Key requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• degree-level qualification
• substantial leadership experience in education, inclusion, SEND, safeguarding or commissioning
• strong understanding of AP, Section 19 duties and SEND legislation
• experience leading improvement, QA or commissioning for vulnerable children and young people
• ability to build effective partnerships and influence across organisations
• commitment to inclusive education; strategic thinking with delivery focus
• desirable: postgraduate qualification and experience leading AP/SEND reform in LA or MAT
